About Us

Chef Christine Ferris founded the farmhouse deli in 2013, after decades of cooking on the west coast, Chicago and Michigan. As a well established caterer, Chris longed to be able to reach a broader audience and have a more spontaneous relationship with the local produce. When her friend offered her a lovely space in Douglas Michigan, she knew she had found the location for her dream deli. The original plan was to have a tiny little spot to offer a few handmade fresh items daily. The deli quickly took off and has evolved into a favorite destination for locals and travelers. We have a sandwich menu, a large deli case filled with salads and meats, a baked goods case, organic coffee bar, juice bar and a small retail offering. Our philosophy is simple. Fresh ingredients, served with a smile, using local options whenever possible. We like the food to speak for itself, cooking in simple ways with flavorful seasonings. Our soups and stocks are made from scratch. We use farm fresh eggs and real butter in our baked goods. We also make loads of vegan and gluten free food. Please stop by and say hello.
